With the annual U.S. inflation rate at 6.0% for the 12 months that ended in February (according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data published March 14), it should come as no surprise that 76% of exhibitors said rising costs are the most difficult challenge they face in 2023, according to research by A2Z Events by Personify. Independent trade show executives, suppliers and industry media convened March 20-23 for the 2023 Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO) CEO Summit at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas.  The four-day event offered content on a wide variety of topics, from a global economic forecast and an update on the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative to a study on DEI at the top 20 exhibition companies and research on next-gen event-goers. What design trends can you expect to see on the show floor in 2023? To find out, creative directors from two leading exhibit design and build companies explored the show floors at two of most innovative trade shows in the world: Euroshop 2023, held Feb. 25-March 2 in Dusseldorf, Germany, and Natural Products Expo West, held March 7-11 in Anaheim, Calif.   While both shows are among the largest in their sectors, the exhibitor and attendee profiles are quite different. The Kentucky General Assembly has passed legislation that includes a revision (from 6% to 0%) to the commonwealth’s sales tax on exhibit and sponsor space rental for face-to-face business events. Signed into law by Governor Andy Beshear on March 24, it states that business event organizers will be exempt from charging sales tax to their exhibitors and sponsors, essentially reversing a new 6% tax that went into effect on Jan. 1. Here’s one simple way to maximize your trade show presence: include your upcoming trade show schedule in your email signature. Despite a rainy week in Las Vegas, the triennial CONEXPO-CON/AGG & IFPE 2023 crushed attendance expectations, drawing 139,000 construction and fluid power professionals from 133 countries to the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) and Festival Grounds March 14-18. On the heels of a successful OFFPRICE Show held Feb. 11-14 at The Venetian Expo in Las Vegas, which attracted 10% more exhibitors than the previous show, Tarsus Group announced it will launch a new regional OFFPRICE Show in Florida to meet the needs of East Coast chain stores and independent retailers.
